If you are in the process of obtaining your undergraduate degree and want to become a doctor, then you probably know that in order to get accepted into medical school, you must take and pass the MCAT medical test. The MCAT stands for the Medical College Admissions Test, and is an absolutely must in your journey towards becoming a doctor. This medical test is often feared by prospective doctors trying to enter medical school. To many, this is a very taunting task on the quest to becoming a doctor. No. 1 The first that you should know about the MCAT is that it is a five and a half hour long test. Be prepared for one of the longest tests of your life. If you are prepared and took the opportunity to pay attention throughout your undergraduate career and studied as much as you possibly could, then the medical test will not be as painful for you.

No. 2 There are four categories that are a part of the MCAT. Those four categories are Scientific Reasoning: The Physical Sciences, Verbal Reasoning, Scientific Reasoning: The Biological Sciences, and Writing Sample. When studying for the medical test, you definitely want to keep the categories in mind. That way you can focus on what it is that will be covered on the medical test rather than trying to remember every single thing that you previously learned.

No. 3 Before taking the MCAT, you have to have taken certain courses. The courses that you would have had to have completed is two semesters of biology, physics, chemistry, and organic chemistry. That will prepare you for what is covered in the MCAT. You will be able to delve into the four categories included in the medical test if you worked hard and studied during each of those courses. Your stance toward taking the medical test will be a little less intimidating once you have obtained the knowledge base that you need to take the MCAT.

No. 4 You should know that the MCAT is currently a computer based medical test. This means that you will be sitting in front of a computer screen for the five and a half hour testing duration. Unlike some computer tests, the MCAT already has the questions determined, it does not system generate due to performance. So while you are taking the medical test, take confidence in the fact that you have a fair shot at the test because you are getting the very same test as everyone else.
